FAQ: Trimix, Bimix, Caverject, Tablets & Trimix Gel

Do you prescribe ED treatments at the first visit?
Sometimes. Many patients can start with lifestyle and oral options first, while others may be candidates for injection or urethral therapies. Your plan depends on medical history, contraindications, and prior response.

What’s the difference between Trimix and Bimix?
Trimix is a three-medication compounded injection and Bimix is usually a two-medication compounded injection. Bimix is often considered when men want an injection option without alprostadil.

What’s the difference between Trimix and Caverject?
Caverject is alprostadil only (single medication, standardized product). Trimix is compounded and includes multiple medications. Some patients prefer the simplicity of Caverject; others may respond better to Trimix depending on severity and tolerance.

How quickly do these therapies work?
Local therapies (injection or urethral) typically work faster than tablets for many patients. Timing varies, and your clinician will provide practical guidance.

Are injections safe?
When prescribed appropriately and taught properly, they can be safe and effective. The main risks are bruising, discomfort, and rarely prolonged erections. Proper dosing and education reduce risk.

What if an erection lasts too long?

A prolonged erection can be a medical emergency. If you ever have an erection that is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours, seek urgent medical care (emergency department).

Can I use injections if I’m on blood thinners?
Sometimes, but it depends on the medication and your bleeding risk. This must be reviewed with your physician.

Do you sell the medication?
No. If prescribed, medication is dispensed by a pharmacy. Costs vary by formulation and pharmacy but we can provide you direct and immediate assistance in obtaining the medication.
