There are many body-scanners out there, but most do not have medical-grade accuracy and do not provide detailed breakdown on body water content & cellular health
A Smarter Way to Track Change with Medical-Grade Accuracy
At True North Metabolic in Kitchener, ON - our InBody 770 body composition analysis gives you the numbers that matter—skeletal muscle, body fat %, visceral fat, and water balance (ECW/TBW), so you can see what’s really changing, not just the number on the scale.
This fast, non-invasive scan is ideal for:
-
Weight loss programs (including medication starts and lifestyle plans)
-
Men’s health / TRT baseline and follow-up
-
Fitness & performance testing for athletes and everyday lifters
Why it helps:
-
Objective, medical-grade metrics you can compare over time
-
Detects fluid shifts and plateaus early
-
Guides nutrition, training, and treatment decisions

What You Will Learn From Your Scan
-
Skeletal Muscle Mass & Distribution of Muscle & Imbalances
-
Body Fat % & Visceral Fat Area
-
Hydration & ECW/TBW (Water Balance)
-
Phase Angle & Cellular Health
-
Basal Metabolic Rate & A lot More
All with medical-grade accuracy
Who It's For
-
Fitness For Men and Women
-
Weight Loss - We will track your progress over time, great to use before starting medications such as Ozempic or Mounjaro
-
Men's Health - See how much muscle and body fat you have and the distribution, this is an excellent analysis to have done before starting TRT

Follow up & Progress Tracking
We will do repeat scans during follow up appointments to see how your progress is doing. Whether your goal is losing weight, adding muscle mass, seeing how much water weight you have or just settling curiosity; this is an excellent addition to your toolkit.

What is an InBody 770 scan?
The InBody 770 is a medical-grade body composition test that uses direct segmental, multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (MF-BIA/DSM-BIA) to estimate muscle, fat, and body water distribution in about 60 seconds. It measures impedance across 5 body segments (arms, legs, trunk) using multiple frequencies to generate a detailed report.
What does the InBody 770 measure/check?
Your printout includes key metrics such as: weight, BMI, percent body fat, body fat mass, lean body mass, skeletal muscle mass, segmental lean analysis, and body composition history. It also provides a detailed body water breakdown including total body water (TBW), intracellular water (ICW), extracellular water (ECW), ECW/TBW ratio, plus segmental body water and segmental ECW/TBW.
What evidence is there to support the medical-grade accuracy of the InBody 770?
Multiple peer-reviewed studies have compared InBody 770 estimates against reference methods like DXA and four-compartment (4C) models. In older adults with type 2 diabetes, DSMF-BIA (InBody 770) showed high agreement with DXA for muscle mass measures (e.g., appendicular skeletal mass index with very high ICC). PubMed
In young, normal-weight adults, InBody 770 showed good agreement for fat mass and fat-free mass versus a 4C criterion, with larger error for percent body fat (a common pattern across BIA methods). PubMed
A large real-world study in 1,000 healthy adults found high reliability for both DXA and InBody measurements, and strong correlations for total fat mass and fat-free mass, while also noting that systematic bias can exist (meaning the two methods may differ slightly even when they track changes well). Nature
What can affect my results (and how do I get the most consistent scan)?
Hydration status and timing matter for all BIA devices. For best consistency: test under similar conditions each time (similar time of day), avoid intense exercise right before, and arrive normally hydrated. (If you’re tracking progress, consistency is more important than “perfect” conditions.) Frontiers
Do I get a report?
Yes — you’ll receive a printed (paper) results report immediately after your scan so you can review your metrics right away.
Is there a physician consult included?
Yes — your visit includes a physician review/consult to interpret the results in context (goals, training, weight loss plan, men’s health optimization, metabolic health). If you prefer, this can be in person, or done by phone call.
We also are able to provide a clinically guided meal plan based on your results.
How much does it cost?
$75 per InBody 770 Body Composition Analysis visit (includes your printed report + physician interpretation/consult) & 49$ for follow up scans
Who is this for?
It’s useful for people focused on fitness performance, weight loss, and body recomposition, including individuals starting a medically-supervised program who want objective tracking beyond the scale.
Where are you located, and who do you serve?
Our Body Composition Testing is offered at True North Metabolic in Kitchener-Waterloo, serving Southwestern Ontario—commonly including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and surrounding communities.
Is the test safe? Any reasons I shouldn’t do it?
The test uses a very low electrical current through hand and foot electrodes and is non-invasive. If you have an implanted electronic medical device (like a pacemaker/ICD), you should generally avoid BIA testing unless your treating team confirms it’s appropriate.
There is no radiation exposure.
